  • Hot melt adhesive (HMA), also known as hot glue, a form of thermoplastic adhesive is commonly available in solid cylindrical sticks of various diameters, designed to be melted when heat is applied over it.
  • Solvent free adhesives, which are characteristically solid at temperatures below 180F (82C), are low viscosity fluids above 180F, and set rapidly upon cooling.
  • Some of the base materials for production of hot melt glue are polyamides, Ethylene vinyl acetate, polyurethane and polyolefin.
  • The development of hot melt adhesive technology stemmed from the previous use of molten wax for bonding.
  • Hot-melt glue can be used to assemble and repair foam models as an alternative to foam-safe Cyanoacrylate or UHU POR adhesive.
  • A product called Tecbond 7718 is a type of polyamide adhesive with a very low viscosity that sets very hard.

    which they are applied.
