  • A Chemically reactive material which is produced by sintering (heating of ore at high temperature) raw Magnesite Shaft Kiln or rotary kiln at a controlled temperature 1100 degree centigrade by using furnace oil.
  • Synonyms are Calcined Magnesite, Caustic Calcined Magnesia.
  • Reaction involves under calcination is MgCO3 = MgO + CO2 which expels out the carbon dioxide.
  • While heating Magnesite, metal impurities like iron, nickel from impure magnesium oxide has been removed.
  • Applications in the fields of Abrasive for Grinding Wheels, Construction, Fertilizers (Plant Nutrient), Stock Feed / Cattle Feed, Fuel Additive, Leather Tanning, Refractory (Ceramics/Steel industry).
  • Installed capacity is 19,500 M.T. per annum. LCM is supplied lumps and powder form to meet the requirement of customers.
  • LCM containing 2-10% CO2, called caustic Magnesite used for variety of industrial applications, the most important one is manufacturing of Sorel cement, pulp and paper, rayon etc.
  • Caustic Calcined Magnesite is made from nature Magnesite through calcining in reverberatory furnace, rotary furnace and boiling furnace.
  • Calcined Magnesite is also used as a fuel oil additive and anticoking agent.
  • In general, Magnesite is marketed only after calcination i.e. after converting into lightly Calcined Magnesite by heating the mineral.
