  • Paper recycling is the process of recovering waste paper and remaking it into new paper products.
  • Paper is required and used for anything and everything one can think of. With hundreds of final uses, paper satisfies many important human needs.
  • Successful recycling requires clean recovered paper, so you must keep your paper free from contaminants, such as food, plastic, metal, and other trash, which make paper diffi cult to recycle.
  • Waste paper recycling is a process by which waste paper, agricultural residues, waste cotton, old rugs, tailor cuttings, waste jute, hosiery cuttings, are processed together with some chemicals like caustic soda, dry staffs, resin, etc., to produce file covers, greeting cards, writing paper, paperboard, filter paper, drawing paper, filter paper & pads duplicating paper, tissue paper etc.
  • The major operations involved in waster paper recycling are: Raw materials sorting, cutting and dusting , Digesting (Cooking) , Beating , Lifting and couching, Pressing and drying , Tub sizing , Calendaring , Sorting and cutting.
  • Paper produced by recycling is generally of four kindsówriting /printing paper, newsprint paper, duplex boards, and craft paper.
  • Paper Recycling has five main categories and 67 sub-categories. The details of the processing stages will vary according to whether pulp substitute grades, newsprint or packaging grades are treated.
  • Recovered paper reprocessing varies according to the type of recycled paper product, which will in turn determine the type of recovered paper that is used as the process feedstock.
  • Globally, recycling of paper is a huge business. There are global exchanges that deal in waste paper and many countries mandate the recycling of paper.
  • Currently, the recovery of waste paper in India is low at 26% compared to say Germany at 80%, Thailand at 45% and China at 38%, according to the Indian Agro & Recycled Paper Mills Association (IARPMA) estimates.
  • Repulped waste paper is used as a drawing paper, permanent document paper, filter paper and pads, file covers,  duplicating paper, tissue paper and for exclusive greetings.
  • Indian consumption of paper is five kilograms per capita, with an expected growth rate of 6-7% per annum over the next five years.
  • The product can get its market outlet through direct sales to customers that include firms in the paper and printing industry. The plant can also appoint agents at selected locations.
  • According to the market study, the demand of recycled paper in the year 2008 will be 2,643.77 tones, whereas this demand will grow to 16,266.5 tones by the year 2022.
  • The core part of the technology for waste paper recycling is the digester. The complete  machinery and equipment for waste paper recycling can be supplied by manufacturers in India, China, Korea and other countries in Asia and Europe
