  • Praseodymium is a soft, malleable, ductile, silvery metal and it is one of the lanthanide rare earth metals.
  • It can be prepared by several methods, such as by calcium reduction of the anhydrous chloride of fluoride and It is reacts with water to form praseodymium hydroxide plus hydrogen gas.
  • It is not found free in nature but is found in a number of minerals mainly monazite and bastnasite.
  • It has 32 isotopes whose half-lives are known, with mass numbers 121 to 154. naturally occurring praseodymium consists of its one stable isotope, 141Pr.
  • It is used in the core of high-intensity carbon arc lights used by the film industry and in floodlighting and it salts also  used to color glasses and enamels.
  • It has an atomic mass of 140.90765 amu & the melting point for praseodymium is 935°C with a boiling point of 3127°celsius.
  • One of the primary uses of praseodymium though is an alloying agent with magnesium that creates a high strength metal which is used in aircraft engines.
  • Praseodymium and such products always in demand will mean that praseodymium will be a popular rare earth metal investment of low risk.
