  • Bronze is a metal alloy consisting primarily of copper, usually with tin as the main additive, but sometimes with other elements such as phosphorus, manganese, aluminum, or silicon.
  • Bronze is typically 88% copper and 12% tin. Alpha bronze consists of
    the alpha solid solution of tin in copper. Alpha bronze alloys of 45% tin are used to make coins, springs, turbines and blades
  • Commercial bronze (90% copper and 10% zinc) and Architectural bronze (57% Copper, 3% Lead, 40% Zinc)
    are actually brass alloys because they contain zinc as the main alloying ingredient. They are commonly used in architectural applications.
  • Metal powders are produced by the mechanical methods and the chemical/electrochemical methods
  • The production of Bronze powder involves production of the melt, comminution & quenching of the melt  into particles and finally a series of steps adapted to mill and sift the particles to desired size & uniformity
  • The conversion cost from the base metal to a metal powder is a critical issue in the ability of metal powder producers to compete with conventional casting and forging technologies. However, Powder Metallurgy parts have a competitive advantage in that they can be made to net or near net shape and thus require less machining.
