• Boswellia serrata is tree found in India, Northern Africa, and the Middle East.
  Strips of bark are peeled away, yielding a gummy oleo-resin which contains oils, terpenoids,and gum.
  Extracts of this gummy exudate have been traditionally used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine as an anti-arthritic and anti-inflammatory pharmacological agent.
•  Salai guggal and its purified fraction boswellic acid have been reported-to possess variety of pharmacological actions.

• Boswellia serrata gum resin  is a safe and effective topical anti-inflammatory agent. Olibanum, the resin from the Boswellia species has been used as incense for centuries, and is currently used as fixative in perfumes, soaps, creams, lotions, and detergents.

•  In India, the gum resin exudates of Boswellia serrata, known in the vernacular as ‘Salai guggal’, have been used in the Ayurvedic system of medicine as anti-inflammatory agents.

• Boswellin CG can conveniently be used in conventional cosmetics and has a characteristic pleasant aroma that blends well into formulations. Additionally, its efficacy and safety in topical formulations is supported by clinical studies . Products containing 5% of Boswellin CG did not produce any irritation or sensitization in standard patch tests.

• Boswellia serrata is used in refrigerant, diuretic, aromatic, demulcent, aperient, alterative. It is used as astringent in chronic ulcers, diseased bones. It finds its use in rheumatic, nervous diseases & oral care. It is also said to reduce obesity. The oil of Boswellia is also used in aromatherapy
